The goal

To give LSS a premium digital presence that communicates its landscape design and construction expertise, shows the quality of its completed work and turns high-intent homeowners into qualified enquiries.

The challenge

LSS needed a website that reflects the quality of its real-world projects and makes a high-consideration residential service feel clear, credible and easy to approach. The earlier experience had no clear hierarchy between services, project proof, trust signals and calls to action. Some sections were visually inconsistent, and heavy green backgrounds with low-contrast content made the text hard to read. The new site had to balance strong visual storytelling with readability and an easy path to requesting a quote.

The solution

We created a photo-led, trust-focused website that combines clear service communication, large project imagery, testimonials and repeated opportunities to get in touch. The journey moves from the value proposition to project proof, then to contact. The LSS team edits all content from a custom dashboard, which also shows visit statistics as charts.

    UX strategy

    Visual experience design

We designed a desert-modern interface with large project imagery, strong typography, green accents and clean layouts.

  4. 04

    Responsive experience

We adapted the experience for desktop and mobile while keeping the visual hierarchy, readability, project imagery and paths to a quote.

  5. 05

    Interaction and conversion design

We designed clear calls to action, scroll-based content reveals, portfolio interactions, testimonial sections and quote touchpoints throughout the site.

Design decisions

  • Project-led storytelling

Large landscape photography and portfolio content take a central role, so users can judge the quality of the work before they make contact.

  • Clear conversion hierarchy

The main action, Get a Free Quote, appears throughout the journey. A secondary action, View Our Work, supports users who need more proof first.

  • Desert-modern direction

Green, white and dark neutrals, bold typography and warm outdoor imagery reflect Arizona's landscape and the company's premium positioning.

  • Proof before promise

Real project imagery, completed work, experience and testimonials come first, so users see the quality of LSS before they are asked to make contact.

  • Clear hierarchy, less friction

Services, portfolio content, trust signals and calls to action are separated into a structured journey that is easy to scan and understand.

  • Visual restraint

We reduced visual noise and relied on strong photography, white space, readable contrast and controlled green accents.

Aesthetic
Clean, natural, warm and modern. A refined, photo-led residential look.
Typefaces
A bold modern sans-serif with a strong uppercase presence for headlines, and a clean contemporary sans-serif for body text.
Imagery
High-end residential landscaping, outdoor living spaces, pool areas, desert-modern gardens, lighting details, planting and completed project photography. The mood is warm, aspirational and natural, with golden-hour light, sunset scenes, clean compositions and a resort-like residential feel.
Motion
Smooth fades, soft section reveals, subtle image movement and restrained hover states. Content is revealed progressively from the value proposition to services, project proof, testimonials and the final call to action, so movement supports the photography and the journey without becoming the focus.

The technical challenge

The client wanted to run the whole website without a developer: text, photos, projects, testimonials, FAQs and contact details, with different access levels for different staff. We stored every piece of content in a database and built a custom dashboard with simple forms and drag-and-drop photo uploads. Changes appear on the site within about a minute, empty fields fall back to default content, and a permissions system with 4 roles (Admin, Manager, Staff, Viewer) and 11 separate permissions controls who can do what.

Performance and quality

Pages are built on the server and cached, and images are resized and compressed for each screen size and served as WebP or AVIF. The site runs on managed cloud infrastructure, so traffic spikes need no server work, and new projects, pages and staff accounts are added from the dashboard without touching the code. It works on every screen size, in light and dark mode, with custom error and loading screens.

What changed

  • Clearer view of services

Users move through the services, project examples and company story in a more logical structure that is easier to follow.

  • Stronger trust and credibility

Project imagery, testimonials and the company's 30 years of experience are more visible, which reinforces confidence in the brand.

  • More direct conversion journey

Get a Free Quote, View Our Work and the contact options are placed deliberately throughout the experience.

  • More cohesive brand presence

The interface presents LSS as an established, locally relevant landscape design-and-build company.

  • Strong local positioning

The experience is tied to Arizona and Lake Havasu, so LSS does not read as a generic landscaping company.

  • Visual proof of quality

Completed projects, outdoor-living imagery and testimonials give tangible evidence of craftsmanship and experience.

  • Clear path to a quote

Users move from discovering the company to reviewing its work and requesting a quote without unnecessary steps.
