Animated Website Design

Animated Website Design That Explains Your Service and Stays Fast

An animated website is an ordinary company website in its structure, with considered motion added: elements that appear on scroll, animated illustrations that explain the service, smooth transitions between pages, and small interactions on touch and hover. It suits companies that want a lively, distinctive site without the time and cost of 3D scenes. A typical build takes 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the number of pages and animated illustrations. Market guides put a custom company site at SAR 5,000–25,000 and an advanced site with integrations at SAR 20,000–50,000, and motion moves the figure up within the range. Send us your current site or your idea and you will get a written quote within 24 hours.

Who is this for?

  • Service companies that want a distinctive site and have no product to show as a 3D model
  • Tech and software companies that explain how their product works with animated illustrations
  • Brands with a strong visual identity and illustrations they want to bring to life
  • Companies whose current site feels static and want to revive it without a full rebuild
  • Campaigns and launch pages that need a touch of motion to draw attention to the offer

What you get

Sections that appear on scroll

Headings, cards and images enter the screen in a calm order that leads the eye from one idea to the next.

Animations that explain

Animated illustrations and icons in light formats such as SVG and Lottie, explaining the steps of a service instead of a long paragraph.

Page transitions

Moving from one page to another happens smoothly with no sudden jump, so the visitor feels inside one experience.

Micro-interactions

Buttons, cards and menus that respond to hover and touch, confirming that the tap registered.

One motion language

Set durations and timings written once and applied across the site, so motion reads as part of the brand rather than an add-on.

Light on phones

Movements the browser renders efficiently, small animation files, and loading what a section needs when the visitor reaches it.

Reduced-motion setting respected

Anyone who has turned on reduced motion on their device sees a calm site with all its content, with no sliding or shaking.

Real text for search engines

Everything that moves is real text and links on the page, with a title, description and structured data for every page.

Content your team manages

Text and images are edited from the dashboard, and the motion applies to new content automatically.

How is an animated website different from a 3D website?

Both move, but what moves is different. On an animated website the elements of the page itself move: headings, images, cards and flat illustrations. On a 3D website a real model is rendered inside the browser with WebGL, and it turns, catches light and can be explored from different angles. The first is motion design on top of a site. The second is a scene that is built first, with the site placed around it.

That difference shows up everywhere: an animated website needs no models, is built in less time, and runs lightly on most devices. If what you sell is a service, software or expertise, motion is enough to bring the site to life. If it is a product or a building that deserves to be seen from every side, the interactive 3D website page is what you are looking for. The two can be combined, as on our own home page at www.fortunecode.org: a 3D hero, followed by sections with light motion.

  • Animated website: two-dimensional motion, no models, less time and lower cost
  • 3D website: models you can explore, which need model files and wider device testing
  • The combined route: one scene in the hero, and light motion across the rest of the site

Types of motion and what each one is for

Not every movement does the same job. In design we sort motion into four types and ask of each one: what does it tell the visitor? A movement with no answer gets removed.

We use the right tool for each type: CSS animations for simple things, libraries such as GSAP for sequences tied to scrolling, and Lottie files for illustrations that are designed in motion software and then played in the browser as they are. The choice of tool is a technical decision we carry. What matters to you is the result: smooth motion and light files.

  • Entrance motion: an element appears when the visitor reaches it, so they read in order
  • Explanatory motion: an illustration moves to show a step, a relationship or a before and after
  • Response motion: a button or card answers a touch, confirming the interface is alive
  • Transition motion: changing page or opening the menu without a sudden jump

When motion helps and when it distracts

Motion pulls the eye, which is both its strength and its risk. If one thing moves on the screen, the visitor looks at it. If everything moves, they look at nothing. So on every screen we pick one element that deserves attention and keep the rest still or nearly still.

Some pages are better left completely calm: the quote request form, the contact page, terms and policies, and anywhere the visitor types or reads long text. If your whole site is of that kind, such as a service directory or an information page, a simple, fast website serves you better, and we will say so before we start.

  • It helps: in the hero, when explaining how something works, and when highlighting one offer
  • It distracts: over forms, around long text, and in menus that are opened often
  • A working rule: motion is short, and does not replay every time the visitor returns to a section

Performance, phones and search engines

Good motion never makes the visitor feel weight. We rely on properties the browser animates efficiently and avoid animating things that force it to re-lay out the page at every moment. Animation files load as the visitor approaches their section, not all at once when the page opens. On phones we scale back: fewer movements, shorter distances, and no effects that depend on a mouse pointer.

For search, the risk is hiding the content until the animation runs, so that if the code is delayed or fails the page stays empty. We build it the other way round: the content is on the page as real text from the start, and motion is added on top. Google reads it, a visitor who has turned motion off sees it, and a visitor on a weak connection sees it. We do not promise a particular position in the results. That depends on competition and content.

What to prepare before we start

Motion is built on settled design and content. If the copy changes after it has been animated, part of the work is redone, so we approve the content and the static design first, then show you an animated prototype of one section so you can judge the rhythm before we apply it everywhere.

If you have illustrations from your designer, ask for them as open files with separate layers, because an illustration flattened into one image cannot have its parts animated. If you have none, we draw them as part of the project and state how many in the quote.

  • Your logo and brand guidelines, and open illustration files if you have them
  • Approved page copy, or its key points for us to write
  • The steps of your service or how your product works, the first things worth animating
  • Sites whose motion you liked, with the section that caught your eye
  • Whether the site is new, or we are adding motion to your current one

Common mistakes in animated websites

The most irritating animated websites were built with good intentions: the owner wanted a lively site, so everything was made to move. The result looks lovely on the first visit and tiring on the third.

Before launch we review every movement with one question: if we removed it, would the visitor lose anything? Whatever the visitor would not miss, we remove.

  • Long animations that delay the text the visitor came to read
  • Hijacked scrolling that moves at a different speed from the visitor’s finger
  • Hidden content that only appears through animation, and vanishes if it fails
  • Animations in heavy files, or video that plays automatically with sound
  • Motion that replays every time the visitor passes the section
  • Ignoring the reduced-motion setting for people who are bothered by shaking and sliding

Frequently asked questions

Do animations slow the website down?

Motion that is built properly is not something the visitor feels as weight. We use properties the browser animates efficiently, small animation files in formats such as SVG and Lottie instead of video, and we load each animation as the visitor approaches its section. What usually slows animated sites down is several libraries stacked on top of each other and uncompressed files, and we avoid both from the start.

Do the animations work on phones?

Yes, in a lighter version. On phones we reduce the number of movements and their distances, and replace mouse-hover effects with touch interaction, because the screen is smaller and the visitor scrolls quickly. We test on mid-range devices and in both directions: a movement that enters from the right in the Arabic version enters from the left in the English one.

Does animation hurt SEO?

Not if the content is on the page as real text and motion is added on top. The harm comes when text is hidden until the animation runs, or placed inside a video or an image. We build every page with a title, a description, clean URLs and structured data, and the content stays readable even if the animation code fails. Ranking in the results is something nobody can guarantee.

Can you add animation to my existing website?

In many cases yes, and it costs less than a new site. We add scroll reveals, interactions and animated illustrations to an existing site if its code is well organised and can be modified. We review the site first: if it is slow or built on a template weighed down with plugins, motion will make it heavier, and in that case we advise redesigning it first.

Do I need ready-made animations or 3D models?

You do not need 3D models at all for this kind of site, and your brand identity and content are enough for us to start. If you have illustrations as open files we animate them, and if you do not we draw them as part of the project and state how many in the quote. Much of the motion, such as section reveals and interactions, needs no illustrations at all.

How long does an animated website take?

From 4 to 8 weeks for most company websites. A site of several pages with scroll motion and interactions is closer to four weeks, and a site with custom animated illustrations for each service and transitions between pages is closer to eight. Content approved early shortens the time. The delivery date is written into the contract, with our on-time delivery guarantee.

How much does an animated website cost?

We go by the published market ranges for website design: a custom company site at SAR 5,000–25,000, a bilingual site at SAR 10,000–20,000, and an advanced site with integrations at SAR 20,000–50,000. Motion and custom illustrations place a project toward the upper part of its range. These are market figures, not our price, and our written quote reaches you within 24 hours.

Can my team edit the content after handover?

Yes. You edit text and images and add pages and news from the dashboard, and the motion applies to new content automatically because it is tied to the type of section, not to its wording. Custom animated illustrations are different: changing them is design work, which we estimate in a clear quote before starting. The code, the domain and the accounts are in your company’s name, along with the illustration files.

What is the difference between this and an interactive 3D website?

An animated website moves the flat elements of the page: text, images and illustrations. A 3D website shows real models that can be turned and explored, and it needs model files, more time and wider testing. If what you sell is a service or software, motion is usually enough. If it is a product or a building that deserves to be seen from every side, see the interactive 3D website page.

Does motion bother some visitors?

Yes. For some people a lot of motion causes dizziness or distraction, and operating systems give them a setting to reduce it. We respect that setting: anyone who has turned it on sees the site with all its content, with calm transitions or no motion at all. This is not a side detail. It is part of building a site that works for every visitor. After launch we provide fast technical support for any issue you report.
